Melissa Nelmark
Assistant Coach

Melissa Nelmark is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Yellowjacket softball team.

A Duluth native, Nelmark's resume boasts coaching experience with both new and established organizations. She coached alpine ski racing for Team Duluth from 2006-08 and Wrenshall High School's girl's fast-pitch softball teams in their first two seasons, 2007-08.

Nelmark came to UW-Superior as a transfer from Minnesota-Morris. There, the Duluth East High School product was NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention in soccer for the 1999 and 2000 seasons. She was the team's MVP in 1999 and the following year, while serving as team captain, she was named the team's best defensive player. On the softball diamond, Nelmark was the Cougars' best defensive player in 2000 and again in 2001. Also in 2001 she was the team's co-most inspriational player.

Following her transfer, Nelmark continued to play two sports with the Yellowajckets. In 2002, she played a key role as the Yellowjackets won the WIAC softball championship. That year Nelmark was named All-WIAC as well as to the Great Lakes All-Region and All-Regional Tournament teams. She returned to the soccer field in the fall of 2002, only to have the season shortened due to injury. Nelmark was also a part of the 2004 softball team that captured the school's second WIAC championship. That year, she was named to the All-Regional Tournament team for the second time.

Nelmark graduated from UW-Superior in 2005 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education along with a minor in coaching. In 2010, Nelmark graduated again from UW-Superior, this time with her master's degree in education-instruction. Away from UW-Superior, Nelmark is a 2008 graduate of the NCAA Women Coaches Academy.
